Astor is a non-playable character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. He is a fortune teller who worships Calamity Ganon. Through Ganon, Astor has gained knowledge of the future and strives to preserve the timeline that allows Calamity Ganon to destroy Hyrule in the Breath of the Wild timeline.
Role in Games[]
As revealed in a flashback, Astor was originally a member of a cult dedicated to Calamity Ganon and encountered Harbringer Ganon when he needed a servant to aid in his plans. Subjected to Malice alongside his comrades, Astor took his survival as being chosen as Ganon’s right hand.
Astor later appears with the Yiga forces, plotting with Master Kohga and Sooga after the ninja clan's failure to assassinate Princess Zelda and Urbosa. Astor reveals he has future knowledge through his connection with Calamity Ganon's malice-infused guardian to the Yiga warriors, proposing they work together to preserve the timeline where Ganon wins. To show his intent, Astor provides soldiers of the Calamity army for their coming battles.
The seer next appears in the Great Hyrule Forest, attempting to keep the champions from retaking the forest. Astor remains in the background during most of the fight, summoning Malice Hollows of the Champions to try and stop their campaign. When Link and company reach where the Master Sword is sealed, Astor finally reveals himself in a final bid to stop them from reclaiming the legendary weapon.
When Zelda and her allies manage to locate the Yiga hideout and subsequently defeat the Yiga clan, Kohga and Sooga blame Astor for their loss, but Astor brushes them off, threatening them with the might of Calamity. He proves this threat true after Calamity Ganon emerges, captures Hyrule Castle, and begins conquering all of Hyrule by taking over almost all of the guardians and striving to take over the Divine Beasts.
After Link, Zelda, and the other heroes begin to turn the tide of the war thanks to more time travel caused by Terrako and protecting the Champions and the Divine Beasts from the Blight Ganons, Astor begins to grow desperate. In his anger, he turns on the Yiga clan for a blood sacrifice to increase his power. After this powerup, Astor appears at Fort Hateno with the four reborn Blight Ganons to destroy the remaining defenses of the Hylian forces. When even this plan fails, Astor retreats in frustration, intent on drawing more power from Calamity Ganon.
But his last desperate plan backfires as the heroes reach him through a unified effort and beat him back. In his final showdown with the heroes, Astor order Calamity Ganon to consume his foes. Ganon, however, consumes Astor and Harbinger Ganon to create a new body that was impervious to harm.
