Called "Bo Zhang" in Dynasty Warriors 1-6. |
Bo Cai (onyomi: Ha Sai) was a member of the Yellow Turbans who helped stage a rebellion against the Han Dynasty. He is given a minor mention in historical records as one of the insurgents who repelled Zhu Jun's forces during the spring of 184, causing Huangfu Song to withdraw from Changshe. Huangfu Song's fire attack combined with Cao Cao and Sun Jian's reinforcements caused Bo Cai and his men to cease their pursuit and retreat. Bo Cai was able to escape to Yangzhai until he was killed in battle.
Role in Games[]
He is often regulated to any battle involving the Yellow Turbans throughout the Dynasty Warriors series. In earlier Dynasty Warriors game, his given name was Zhang instead of Cai. This mistake was fixed in Dynasty Warriors 8. He rarely has any importance as an enemy or ally NPC. Bo Cai is one of the generals who must be defeated to obtain the Elephant Saddle in Dynasty Warriors 5. The seventh title has him serve as one of the two Yellow Turban officers leading the vanguard, entrapping Zhu Jun in Wei's storyline. In Dynasty Warriors: Overlords, Bo Cai gets a unique model with a golden spiky helmet and no longer a Strategist.
Bo Cai is a recent addition in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, his first appearance being in its tenth installment. His stats for war and leadership are in the mid to high 70's making him one of the stronger officers in the Yellow Turban ranks, but his other stats are much lower with his politics in particular falling in the 20's.
