Dragon & Princess (ドラゴン&プリンセス) is a text-based fantasy game with limited command inputs. Designed by "Y. Hayase" and "Locke", it was meant to be the first domestic role-playing title in Japan until the release of Omotesandou Adventure.
Although Kou Shibusawa did not consider Dragon & Princess an authentic role-playing title, it helped pioneer new variations of the genre for future games.
Gameplay[]
Gameplay consists of managing a party of five characters and using them to defeat enemies during quests. The end goal is to save a kidnapped princess from an evil dragon, requiring the player to interact with their surroundings for hints on their subsequent destinations.
Stats for each character include attack power, hit rate, and health. Gaining experience points raises these values by small increments. Although a party member's initial stats are fixed, they can be named however the player wants.
Battles are triggered through random encounters and take place within an overhead square grid. Party members and enemies are given turns to act, either moving towards their target or attacking in tandem with an ally.
