Yoshitsugu Maeba is a retainer who serves under the Asakura clan. He eventually defected to the Oda with his two sons.
Role in Games[]
Yoshitsugu Maeba's major appearance is at Anegawa throughout the Samurai Warriors series. In the first Xtreme Legends, he is present at Kanegasaki. During Hideyoshi's story, the player must lure him into a trap set by the Saika Mercenaries along with Kiyotsuna Akao.
In the second game, he is among those tasked with defending Odani Castle to the last. Nagamasa's version of Kanegasaki has him die alongside his lord when the Azai turn on them. He and Jinpachiro Maeba attempt to ambush Nobunaga in the second expansion only to serve as fodder for Toshiie.
For the third game, Yoshitsugu is once more involved in an ambush attack against Nobunaga, only this time his cohort during the assault is Yoshimune Kawai. He reprises this role once more in Samurai Warriors 4.
Historical Information[]
He was a second son of Maeba Kagesada (前波景定) and was a younger brother of Maeba Kagemasa (前波景当). He participated in the Siege of Shiga and fight against Nobunaga's army.
In 1572, he switched served to the Oda clan, probably the cause of his betrayal was First, he hadn't arrived in time for Yoshikage's falconry and Second, Yoshikage has anger towards his son because Yoshikage think that his son have a secret contact with Oda clan. However, he suggested Ichijōdani Castle attack route for Nobunaga.
After that, he was an inspector in the Echizen Province but was opposed by Tomita Nagashige (富田長繁). Finally, he was killed by Tomita's men and his family was killed in the next day.
