Guardians of Peace[]
Appearance: Dynasty Warriors: Origins
An order from the game Dynasty Warriors: Origins that carries on a task entrusted to them by the order’s founders. That task appears to center around finding, choosing, and supporting heroes who can bring peace to troubled times. Their most notable acts known were helping the founder of the Han Dynasty establish the Han Dynasty—the start of their order—and later help the dynasty’s revitalizer before the current corrupt times when the order was largely destroyed, leaving only two known survivors.
We know that the order resided in a secluded village isolated from the rest of the world. It had children being trained from birth to become Guardians of Peace, village elders, the village chief, and others who may have been enforcers or just other Guardians of Peace. The order was marked by a striking red sash and the image of the Luan, the sacred bird.
Guardians of Peace Training and Arts[]
From what we have seen we know that the Guardians of Peace’s training is done over years and years to the point where such training results become habitual to the body.
People of the order are extensively trained in combat. We know warriors with the ability to cut
They also have unique aromatic arts disorient human senses with illusions and hallucinations, but can also be used for communication between others trained in the aromatic arts of the Guardians of Peace. The incense blends unique to the Guardians of Peace utilize an herb that is abundant in their village.
Members of the Order[]
Bailuan[]
The next leader of the Guardians of Peace. The expected plans were for him to become the next village chief with Zhuhe and Ziluan to be the people he would rely on the most, his “wings”.
We learn that Bailuan managed to escape the destruction of the village when the Han attacked. He believed that both Zhuhe and Ziluan, who raced back into the village to buy time for escape, were dead. Now he is fillled with rage against the Han, seeking their destruction while also not believing in “heroes” anymore, not in the same way anymore at least.
Sometime after Bailuan’s escape he met “the people of the North”, possibly the Wuhuan. He has also interacted with the people of the south, the Shanyue. Member of the Yellow Turbans know about the Guardians of peace. Coupled with how Zhang Jiao learned about incense arts from an elder of the Guardians of Peace it is possible that Bailuan interacted with the Yellow Turbans, the Wuhuan and the Shanyue. As for why he built relationships with them, Bailuan appears to identify with their plight as someone experiencing elimination by the Han, and perhaps receiving compassion from “the people of the North.”
From the uses of the Guardians of Peace incense we can infer that Bailuan has been doing his own work to bring down key figures he considers enemies to to the peace of the realm and allies of the Han (notably the portrayal of Sun Jian and Sun ace’s deaths in DW: Origins and his involvement with both the Wuhuan and the Shanyue).
Zhuhe[]
One of the strongest warriors of the Guardians of Peace at the time and Bailuan’s bodyguard. She was also Ziluan’s combat teacher. Zhuhe died during the attack on the village by the Han. She died in Ziluan’s arms.
Ziluan (Wanderer)[]
Born outside of the village of the Guardians of Peace. Despite his origin he was able to use the abilities people of the village were trained for from birth. his eyes have abilities that they of the village do not. Ziluan was trained to become a Guardian of Peace. He was meant to be one of Bailuan’s wings once Bailuan became the next chief of the village.
Ziluan was told by Zhuhe at her death to go down his own path.
Involvement with the Han[]
The founders of the order “the Guardians of Peace” did help establish the Han Dynasty by aiding the dynasty’s founder [who, historically and in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, was originally a peasant rebel]. But lines of dialogue from other Guardians of Peace suggest that they were more of an assassination organization serving the Han at this time than actively guiding the Han, to guard peace.
The Han government—most likely certain high positions within it—has enough knowledge and involvement with the Guardians of Peace that the they turned on the Guardians of Peace, ordering the destruction of their village and its people when they learned some of them did not carry out the entirety of an order. That order was to kill everyone, even the children of rebels. The village itself was isolated from the world. And the guardians kept their existence a secret too. Because of these things it is suspected that someone from the village leaked to the Han about a child they let live in the village, prompting their elimination like other revolting villages before.
Mysterious Figure/???[]
A mysterious figure that the amnesiac Wanderer/Ziluan sees and hears but no one else can. They have the same appearance and voice of the young Bailuan from Ziluan’s memories. But their comments and continued existence even after we encounter the now grown up Bailuan evidence that it may be something different from Ziluan’s mental phantom guidance of Zhuhe.
The most revealing clue we have on their identity is a final comment that you can choose during the battle of Mt. Bailang with the Cao faction when you ask “What are you really?” The figure responds by saying:
Well… It is said that the founders of our order were mystical beings. That they had the faces of children with hair as white as snow, and eyes as blue as the surface of a frozen lake. And that no number of years could ever age them. [Name Chosen]. Ziluan. You must go now. Let your eyes guide you along your true path, and carry out all that has been entrusted to you.
New Way of the Guardians of Peace[]
that is the new way of the guardians of peace. And thus shall our purpose be fulfilled.
