Hinokawa (火河の戦い, romaji: Hinokawa no Tatakai) is a stage exclusive to the Warriors Orochi series and first appears in Warriors Orochi 2. It was the first battleground between the mystics and Orochi. Hinokawa itself isn't a real place, but it is mentioned in a parable by Shan-Tao called "Two Rivers and The White Path" (二河白道).
Role in Games[]
The stage in Warriors Orochi 3 features two opposing shores with main camps on each side. Characters use stationary boats connected with bridges to travel on the battlefield, facing magical ploys and rethinking their strategy. The stage is also used for Musashi Miyamoto, Zhang Fei, and Tadakatsu Honda's dream mode, where they band together to save Ieyasu Tokugawa from Hideyoshi Toyotomi. In Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, players must defeat Hanbei Takenaka and his allies while ensuring Da Ji's survival, with riding on horseback being crucial for victory.
Buddhist Legend[]
The story of Hinokawa and Mizunokawa rivers symbolizes the path to the afterlife, a narrow white path to serenity, compared to lust and greed in True Buddhism.
