Samurai Warriors 2: Empires (戦国無双2 Empires, Sengoku Musou 2 Empires) is an 'Empires' version of Samurai Warriors 2, in which players would try to rule Japan. It was the first 'Empires' game since Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires to be released before the Xtreme Legends version of the game.
Gameplay[]
Bases[]
In Samurai Warriors 2: Empires, the focus is on bases, which are groups on the map that affect the map's dynamics. To win, players must kill the commander or capture the enemy main camp, either by capturing the base or stationing a general.
Officers[]
The battle system has been updated with a general system where generals can follow orders, and the player can give commands. Generals can return to the battlefield if the enemy has enough points or unless captured. They are captured when they have a red "halo" around them, depending on their remaining troops and the player's influence on the map.
Formations[]
The battle field now includes formations, stat-boosts for troops. These are divided into Attack, Defense, and Speed categories, and cancel out on higher levels. They can only be used if the player has enough points and has the formation in their inventory. The cost to use a formation is determined by the level, with Level 1 formations costing 60 points, Level 2 at 120 points, and Level 3 at 180 points.
Game Modes[]
Free Mode[]
The Free mode of Samurai Warriors 2 offers players the opportunity to select a location within Japan, allied and opposing armies, and generals and lieutenants.
Empire Mode[]
This is a new mode in the Samurai Warriors series. First, the player chooses which era the battles will be fought in. The eras are 1561, 1570, 1582 and 1600 or a divided land were the player gets to create their own clan and place them in Japan's map. Then, the player chooses which clan they will fight with.
Create-a-Warrior[]
The feature returns to the series after an absence since the original Samurai Warriors.
